Relieving, functional, sustainable.

Watford is a growing city in southeast England, in the county of Hertfordshire, 27 kilometers northwest of central London. In this context, the creation of new parking space was relevant as an infrastructure measure given increasing population and urban development; The construction of the car park was the start of a major transformation of the entire Watford General Hospital. The aim was to improve the accessibility and parking situation for patients, visitors and staff at both the Watford General Hospital itself and the Watford FC Vicarage Road stadium.

The light-looking facade is airy and very friendly thanks to the bright yellow and orange colours.

Multi-lane entrances and exits ensure optimised traffic flow.

The MSCP, built by Huber Parking on behalf of Kier Development for West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, provides 1,455 parking spaces over seven levels. Disabled-friendly, convenient parking and fast, fully accessible lifts cater for the needs of all users. A footbridge provides easy access to the hospital and the car park has flexible space for ground floor retail.

It combines modern design with functionality and sustainability, with particular emphasis placed on the integration of numerous electric vehicle charging points and photovoltaic power generation.

Concept

Innovative and secure.

Designed by Fatkin Design Architects and built by Huber Parking, the car park is characterised by its innovative design. The advanced façade design plays with perspective and shadow, giving the building a distinctive outer appearance. Winning one of the coveted British Parking Awards 2022, the “Car Park Design Awards”, underlines the outstanding engineering performance and aesthetic design of the project.

Security features include a comprehensive fire safety system and a CCTV and fire alarm system linked to the hospital and stadium.
